Arkansas Archaeological Survey Tour

While attending NWARSEF on Friday, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to tour the museum collections with Dr. Nancy McCartney and Mary Suter, collections curator. We saw a dizzying display of native American artifacts, an incredibly preserved early crocodilian from Germany, an egg from the largest bird ever recorded – the Elephant Bird (of Horton Hatches the Egg fame), and (as pictured) a male/female pair of Passenger Pigeons, once the most numerous bird in our skies, now extinct.
