National Honor Society is gathering gently used shoes and purses March 26 through April 5 to donate to Ozark Guidance’s Walk a Mile in My Shoes fundraiser. All scholars are encouraged to participate in this awarding opportunity. Members will get 30 minutes of volunteer hours per pair of shoes with a maximum of 2 hours and an NHS activity.
1 in 5 people have a mental health disorder that interferes with the way they think, feel, and act. When untreated, mental health disorders can lead to school and work failure, family conflicts, drug abuse, violence, and even suicide. The idea behind Walk a Mile in My Shoes is to encourage people to help to break down the stigmas associated with mental health—to take a look, and walk in someone else’s shoes. With your help, one day, mental health will have the same recognition and support as other medical conditions.
Walk a Mile in My Shoes, presented by Rush Running Company, is a SALE of new and nearly new shoes, handbags, and more.
The collection bin will be placed in Ms. Wise’s room.
