From Romeo and Juliet to Ross and Rachel, romance and romantic relationships have always been a strong part of the media, especially in TV shows. While there are many examples of healthy romantic relationships, there are just as many examples of toxic and abusive romantic relationships. Media is a powerful tool for spreading ideas and messages. Domestic violence rates are rising, and any potential influence on this pressing matter must be studied.
My name is Farheen Palagiri, and I am an AP Research student at Haas Hall Academy Bentonville. I am currently researching the effects of media portrayal of romantic relationships in TV shows on the perceptions and beliefs on romantic relationships held by high school students in Bentonville, Arkansas. I would really appreciate it if you could take a moment and complete my questionnaire. It would greatly help progress my research. The questionnaire should not take more than fifteen (15) minutes. All participation is voluntary, and your responses will be kept confidential. I am seeking participants from grades 9-12.
