Hayley Pike qualified for the US Olympic Trials!
Last week, Hayley Pike competed at a national-level swim competition in Indianapolis, IN. In the 1500m freestyle, she cut 10 seconds off her personal best time and finished 2 seconds faster than the US Olympic Trials qualifying standard. This means that in June 2020, Hayley will travel to Omaha, NE for the US Olympic Trials Swim Meet to compete for a spot on Team USA’s roster for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics!
This is an incredible accomplishment that very few of even the most elite competitive swimmers in the country have achieved. For perspective, there are over 200,000 female athletes in the USAS organization and only 38 of them have currently qualified for Olympic Trials in the 1500m free. Hayley is currently one of only 3 athletes, male or female, of all ages, in the state of Arkansas that has achieved an Olympic Trials time standard. The other 2 qualifiers from Arkansas are Kobie Melton (50 freestyle) and Madison Strathman (100 breaststroke), both are collegiate swimmers from the University of Arkansas.
Congratulations Hayley on your haasome achievement!
