Despite the cold rain, the Huskie track team brought the heat to Harrison High’s conference meet. The boys finished 3rd out of eight overall, inspite of only have six participants. Four boys will heading to the state meet including Gage Kitchens, Mathew Mitchell, David Cordero, and Clayton Hull. All six boys added points to the team total including Brock Harris and Ian Curriden, with Gage Kitchens being high point scorer. The girls team also saw strong performances in spite of only fielding three members, all freshman. Mary Helen Schaefer was conference champion in the 3200 meter, 2nd in the 1600 meter, and 5th in the 800 meter races. Mary will also heading to the state meet next week. A special shout out and thank-you to Mary’s mom for driving everyone to the meet in her van. Also, many thanks to Coach Nannette for her dedication to the Husky track program. She will be sorely missed next year, as she is moving to California to get away from the snow and cold of Husky land. Go Huskies!
