Russell Robinson grew up in Northwest Arkansas. Born in Fayetteville, his parents, three brothers and one sister moved to Springdale and attended the Springdale Public Schools. After graduating Springdale High School, he attended the University of Arkansas where he received his Bachelor of Science Education (BSE) in music from the University of Arkansas. In 2003 he earned his Master of Arts in Education (MAED) from the University of Phoenix.
Currently, Mr. Robinson is the director for the Ozark Mountain British Brass Band. He began his 35-year teaching career with the Altus-Denning Public Schools in 1982. In 1985, he taught for the Pulaski County Special School District teaching at Jacksonville Junior High South and Jacksonville Junior High North in Jacksonville, Arkansas and Joe T. Robinson High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1990, he was extended an invitation to go back to his home town of Springdale, Arkansas as the assistant band director at Springdale’s Central Junior High School. He became an assistant band director at Springdale High School in 1993 and then was appointed to Associate Director of Bands in 1994. He has had superior bands every year that he has been at Springdale High School and had numerous requests to perform across the United States.
On December 25, 1992, Russell married Lori Jean Couch. Together they have two adult children. A son named Charlie and a daughter named Emily. Mr. Robinson’s hobbies include bicycling, golfing and sailing but mostly spending as much time with his family as possible.
