The Haas Hall Academy Mountain Bike team will host an informational meeting for all HHA scholars and parents/guardians from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 at Park Springs Park Pavilion in Bentonville. This meeting is for ALL new and returning riders, families, coaches and anyone interested in volunteering for the 2022 season. No prior experience necessary

The HHA MTB team is made up of boys and girls from all four campuses in grades 7-12. The team is open to everyone regardless of financial ability. Scholarships are available for those who need them.

The Arkansas NICA mountain bike season officially starts Thursday, July 1. The HHA MTB team plans to start practice on Tuesday, July 5 or later that week. The coaches need everyone to attend the informational meeting to determine how many riders each HHA campus has. This information will help determine our practice locations and the number of volunteers needed to meet student-to-coach ratios.

The meeting will provide an overview of the mountain bike team and the NICA League. We will discuss the upcoming season: practice dates and times, calendar of races, equipment needs, registration, what to expect at practices and races, NICA registration fees, and team dues. A Q&A will follow.

Feel free to bring your bike to the info meeting if you are unsure if it’s the right type of bike or the right size for you or your child. Also, one of our sponsors, Bike Shop Joe’s at 1206 SE Moberly Lane in Bentonville, is offering free bike safety checks and minor adjustments (does not include full tune-ups, major repairs or parts), so if you’re interested please get a bike check.

We also need more volunteers to assist with practices and meet the student-to-coach ratios needed for safe, fun, and productive practices. No experience or expertise required, and training will be provided by the NICA League in June for all interested volunteers.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting some new faces. If you cannot attend, please email Coach Deihl Betz at dbetz@jakks.net to request more information. Coach Deihl also will send a recap of the meeting.
