Prep. PSAT testing, the PPSAT, will begin next Wednesday, September 26th. Please be sure that scholars are well-rested and well-fed and on campus no later than 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday because testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. (We are going to treat this as an authentic practice for the real PSAT exam that will take place on October 10th.)
The testing room assignments have been posted on the wall in the administrative wing of campus. Scholars, please note your room assignments today so that you’ll know where to go on Wednesday morning.
Scholars, also note that personal items are not permitted in the testing rooms. All backpacks and electronic devices, including smart watches, will be stored outside of testing rooms and may not be accessed by scholars until testing has concluded.
Scholars must bring the following items on test day:
1. No. 2 pencil(s);
2. an eraser; and
3. a permitted calculator to use on the calculator math portion of the exam.
The regularly scheduled exams will take approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes to administer, and some testing will be taking place for the duration of the day. However, this is a practice for the real PSAT, so we are likely to take much less time than the PSAT’s planned 3 hours and 50 minutes.
The close alignment between the PSAT/NMSQT and the SAT means that scholars can prepare for the PSAT/NMSQT by accessing the Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy for free, personalized, online practice (satpractice.org).
