Want to grow your scientific knowledge and test your skills in competition?
Science Olympiad will be hosting its first meeting on Monday, December 7th, at 3:00 PM. Haas Hall Bentonville will participate in Division C (grades 9-12) and all meetings will be virtual this year.
The categories for competition are as follows:
Anatomy & Physiology, Astronomy, Boomilever (might be replaced with Digital Structures), Chem Lab, Circuit Lab, Designer Genes, Disease Detectives, Dynamic Planet, Fossils, GeoLogic Mapping, Gravity Vehicle, Machines, Ornithology, and Water Quality.
Science Olympiad is a team competition that works like an academic track meet. Scholars work in groups and as individuals to compete in a variety of science events and schools are ranked based on the overall team performance. Regional competition will be held on March 6th at NWACC and the state competition will be held in Little Rock on April 3rd. Science Olympiad is tremendous fun, and many of our past competitors have been awarded medals.
Due to COVID, the competition will be different this year. These changes will be discussed during Monday’s meeting. To obtain a Google Meet and/or Classroom link, please contact Jason Harmon at:
Jason is a Science Olympiad veteran and will be serving as the captain of this year’s team!
