University of Arkansas offers Fall ACT prep class at Haas Hall Rogers

ACT prep classes aim to improve student performance

The University of Arkansas College Access Initiative will offer ACT prep classes at Haas Hall Rogers in Fall 2019. The College Access Initiative Academy class leads up to the December ACT test and will cover all ACT subject areas, including English, Math, Reading, and Science. Hass Hall freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors interested in improving ACT performance are encouraged to apply. The cost of the class series is $40, and space is limited.

“College Access Initiative is an affordable ACT prep program,” said Bryan Hembree, who directs the program’s ACT outreach in Northwest Arkansas. “The class will focus on motivating strategies and a fresh approach to the ACT, and all four subject areas of the ACT – English, math, reading, science reasoning –will be covered. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors of all levels will benefit from this unique approach to ACT test prep.”

The class will begin with a broad conversation about the college planning process and the ACT test. Students will gain a roadmap for the class, which includes strategies to help students:

• Conquer the balance between speed and accuracy

• Remove mental blocks that inhibit performance

• Gain familiarity and confidence with the test format

• Understand the role the test plays in the college planning process

• Move toward their true potential on the test
